LGBTQ+ Counseling

A Safe Space for LGBTQ Concerns

Welcome!

Your sessions at Coastal Counseling will be modified for your specific needs. Some clients have specific LGBTQ concerns while others are just seeking an LGBTQ-friendly therapist. I offer a supportive and shame-free environment at Coastal Counseling to help you find the clarity you need. Through our work together, you can process your specific concerns, whether it is relationship stress, coming out, or “where do I go from here?” Working with a supportive therapist to understand your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions is key to feeling better.

I help individuals, as well as same-sex couples, gain a deeper understanding of where they came from, how they are now, and who they want to become. It is crucial to find a space to speak freely and always feel safe, understood, and respected. Whether it’s working through difficulties with family, gender-identity concerns or navigating the murky waters of a relationship, I have your back!

It is our human nature to want to fit in, to feel accepted. When we are not in the majority, whether it be with religion, social status, body shape, or sexuality, it can cause an adverse effect on how we treat ourselves or how others see us. It can impact our emotional well-being on a daily basis.

There is so much societal pressure for everyone to look and be the same. I am the advocate who believes there is so much beauty in being different. To accept our uniqueness is to feel whole.

Common Concerns I Work With:

  • Emotional stress due to remaining “closeted”
  • Discrimination at work, school, or other areas
  • Anxiety and feelings of inadequacy about one’s identity
  • Rejection from family members or other loved ones
  • Life transitions
  • Being gay or transgender after having children
  • Uncertainty about one’s sexual orientation
  • Asexuality
  • Polyamorous individuals, couples, and families
  • Networking, medical, and social support for the transgender population

Sometimes the weight of these factors can be overbearing. You do not have to carry the load on your own. Let me help!

The support and insight gained in therapy can be highly effective. At Coastal Counseling, we can work through how to have these difficult conversations with others and still feel like a human being regardless of the outcome. My goal is to help you learn how to love you and feel complete with yourself. When you walk away from a negative situation, you will feel empathy for that negative person who lost out on seeing how wonderful you truly are.
